And this is my beautiful life
The only thing certain is everything changes
The lows and the highs
And all those goodbyes
As hard as it gets I know it's still amazing
To be alive
It's a beautiful life

HAVE YOUR SAY: Sezairi Sezali wins Singapore Idol
Fans react to 22-year-old dark horse's triumph over hot favourite Sylvia Ratonel image from Channel NewsAsia video
SEZAIRI Sezali made it three wins in a row for aspiring male Malay singers when he was crowned 2009's Singapore Idol on Sunday night.

The laidback 22-year-old beat hot favourite Filipino-Singaporean Sylvia Ratonel to become champion of the reality TV singing contest in front of an estimated 8,000-strong crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Sezairi, who is waiting to enlist into National Service, dashed public hopes of crowning a female Singapore idol. His rival, a hotel secretary, was expected to win after defying expectations to become the first woman to make it to the competition's finale.

He joins Taufik Batisah, who won the inaugural competition in 2004, and Hady Mirza, the 2006 winner.

"I don't know that to think right now. Thank you guys so much, you made my dreams come true," a visibly shell-shocked Sezairi told Channel NewsAsia.

Along with the title and bragging rights, he wins a recording contract with Universal Music.

Fans, are you happy Sezairi is your new Singapore Idol? Do you think his performances on Sunday night earned him the title? What words of encouragement do you have for both contestants as they embark on their singing careers?

I found this article in msn entertainment. And read through the comments and I came across this comment:

"I was rooting for Sylvia but when Sezairi sang "Crazy" I knew he would win. If you have any doubts abt Sezairi, or not happy that another malay won this, see the bigger picture. Look back at Sylvia'a videos. She sang "Yellow" flat. Another song she sang during the spectacular was also flat. She didnt get my attention when she sang "yellow" or "touched by an angel". But wen sezairi sang, i was mersmerised. Remember I was rooting for sylvia at first. dont let your emotions or your lack of capability to detect tones (deaf tones) affect your judgment abt who deserves to win. If Malays vote for Malays, then sezairi wont win, cos Malays only make up 20% of Singapore's population. All those voters cant be wrong or deaf. And if you want to know what Taufik'd doing, he has produced many albums both in English and Malay, wrote his own songs as well as other artistes and won many reqional musical awards. now that's how a deserving idol works!"

I TOTALLY SECOND HER COMMENT! I didn't follow through the idol journey but I know how good the girls are as compared to Sezairi. I supported Sylvia for the finale. However, as i watched the show, i noticed that her singing was kinda flat especially when she sang "yellow". And when she sang "touched by an angel", i think she somehow didn't let EVERYTHING out. She's not out there. But when Sezairi did it, he added some of his style into it. It wasn't fabulous or magnificent but it was definitely better than Sylvia's rendetion of the song. Of course i am proud that another malay won but this is not a competition of which race is better or more importantly, don't be so desperate to have a female Singapore Idol. What are you people trying to prove here. Furthermore if you noticed, Sylvia looked so confident that she's going to go home with the title. I tell you, being overconfident can cause you..I know, i've been there. So I hope Singaporeans will support our new Singapore Idol, Sezairi Sezali. He deserves it.
